
Jovelle Tamayo
Photojournalist
Jovelle Tamayo is an independent documentary photographer doing photo and video assignments in Seattle, the Philippines and beyond.
Since 2016, she has taught photography and filmmaking to youth with Reel Grrls, Coyote Central, the Northwest Film Forum, the Seattle International Film Festival and The Everyday Projects. She is also a part-time journalism lecturer at the University of Washington.
Tamayo is a founding member of the Authority Collective, a network of women, non-binary and transgender image-makers of color that aims to build community and share resources, and hold industry leaders accountable.
