Areeba Shah is a reporting fellow at the Pulitzer Center, covering how the coronavirus pandemic has affected migrant farmworkers in the Midwest. She recently graduated from Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism where she pursued a MSJ with a focus in Social Justice and Investigative Reporting. She has covered the COVID-19 outbreak in nursing homes, worked on a long-term project about immigration courts in Chicago and reported on the Democratic primaries in South Carolina. Her work also has appeared in The Washington Post; Chicago Reader; The Blade in Toledo, Ohio; and Pakistan’s Friday Times.
